GiTU High School Achievement Scholarship

This scholarship was named in honour of Get into Top Universities (GiTU), who had the distinction of being Canada’s first comprehensive educational consulting practice dedicated to assisting students to pursue educational opportunities in Canada.

Purpose

To recognize and reward academic achievement at the senior high school level and to encourage students to pursue post-secondary studies.

Up to $2,500

Eligibility

Apply once your final high school marks are available and when you are enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies.

To receive this scholarship, you must also meet all of these eligibility criteria:

    • Be a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident of Canada or Protected Person under
      Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, at the start of your post-secondary studies.
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed 60% of a full course load in a post-secondary or an apprenticeship program of at least one semester in length.

Please note! You may only be awarded the GiTU High School Achievement Scholarship once.

Selection

A student must have a minimum combined average based on five designated courses in at least one grade: Grade 10, 11 or 12 as calculated from marks on a valid BC Transcript of High School Achievement. Option/CTS courses may also be considered. If you meet the required overall average for any of the above grades, the amount of the scholarship will be calculated accordingly.

How to Apply

Step 1: Submit your online application when:

    • Your final high school marks are available, and
    • You are enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies between August 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018

AND

    • You have completed high school on or after September 30.

You will be notified of the results of your assessment once your final high school marks are available.

Step 2: If you are eligible, GiTU will send a request to your post-secondary school, asking them to confirm your enrolment.

    • If you apply before you start post-secondary studies – GiTU will send the Confirmation of Enrolment request to your school by the end of your first month of study.
    • If you apply during or after your post-secondary studies – GiTU will send the Confirmation of Enrolment request to your school one month after your application is approved.

Step 3: Once your school receives our request for Confirmation of Enrolment, they have 30 days to respond. GiTU will mail a cheque to you approximately 1 month after your school confirms your enrolment.

  • Only marks recorded on a valid B Transcript of High School Achievement will be accepted. High School grades obtained through upgrading at a post-secondary institution are not accepted.
  • In the event of a mark change, send a letter indicating the appeal with your grade, mark change and course to GiTU.

Deadlines

Apply online when your final high school marks are available and when you are enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies.

Disbursement

Once your enrollment or attendance has been confirmed by your post-secondary institution, GiTU will mail a cheque to you within one (1) month.
